Semesters start and end according to the Prairie Land Regional Division (PLRD) calendar. The current school year calendar will be posted on our School Calendar page.

You can email teachers or message them directly in Canvas through the grade-level homeroom or the specific course you have questions about.

The daily schedule will vary depending on grade level. Sample timetables will be posted on each grade page.

It depends on the program and grade level. Grades 1-9 follow a teacher-directed schedule with live classes and a planned pace of learning. Because students progress together throughout the school year, courses are generally not completed early.

High school students enrolled in asynchronous courses may complete their coursework at an accelerated pace. Students in synchronous high school courses follow a scheduled class calendar and typically complete their courses at the end of the semester. See Synchronous vs Asynchronous.

No, there are no application fees.

Grades 1-9 can enrol until September 29th of the current school year. Grades 10-12 can enrol on a semester basis. See Registration Deadlines for the full picture.

Should a course reach its maximum enrollment, there will be a waitlist until the next time a course is offered, or until we are able to expand staffing.

Learning support services are available through Hope Christian School's Inclusive Education team.

Parents will have access to our Learning Management System (Canvas) where grades, due dates, and teacher feedback can be accessed regularly.

Yes, we have access to a Christian Family Resource Worker through the Prairie Land School Division.

Depending on where you live, students may be able to:

• Join community sports teams and recreational leagues
• Participate in sports or extracurricular activities at their local school, where available

As a member of the Alberta Schools' Athletic Association (ASAA), Hope Christian School students are eligible to participate on their local school's athletic teams. Participation is arranged in cooperation with the local school and is subject to the school's policies and team requirements.

There are no tuition fees for full-time Alberta students. In other cases, see our Fees & Tuition page.

Parents play an important role in supporting their child's learning by helping establish routines, encouraging participation, and providing assistance when needed. Parent involvement is greatest in the early elementary grades and gradually decreases as students become more independent.

Students receive instruction in the Alberta curriculum, including Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education and Health. Opportunities for enrichment and option courses are also available.

Yes. Live online lessons are an important part of our Grades 1-9 program and provide students with direct instruction, interaction with their teacher, and opportunities to learn alongside their classmates.

Students are encouraged to get to know classmates through classroom interactions. We also provide the opportunity for students to meet in person with various field trips throughout the year.

Yes! Students in Grades 1-9 participate in monthly virtual assemblies, and Grades 1-6 students also enjoy monthly online chapel services that help build community and encourage spiritual growth.

Yes! We offer a variety of school-sponsored field trips throughout the year that provide opportunities for learning and building friendships. Field trips are held in different regions of Alberta, so families across the province have opportunities to participate.

Yes! We start each day with a devotional time where all students are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Yes! There is a monthly chapel service for Grades 1-6.

Please use Alberta's Senior High School Courses on the Learn Alberta website for more information about curriculum and prerequisites for courses you are interested in taking.

We have a variety of activities, such as Assemblies, Field Trips, Student Council, and High School Clubs (Newspaper Club, Book Club, Movie Club, The Hive), to encourage student interaction.

You can repeat a course you took with another school. Repeating a course that you previously took with Hope Christian School will be discussed with our guidance counsellor when you make your program plan for the following year.

Hope Christian School has writing centres in Calgary and Edmonton for the January, June and August exams. If you live outside the Calgary and Edmonton area, contact a local school for permission to write at their location.

To withdraw from a course or from Hope Christian School altogether, please contact the office for the Withdrawal Form.
