Every family enrolled in Home Education prepares a Home Education Program Plan (HEPP) for each student. Your facilitator helps you build it, and it doesn't have to be complicated.
A Plan That Reflects Your Family
Every family enrolled in Home Education must prepare a Home Education Program Plan (HEPP) for each student. This plan outlines your educational goals, the learning outcomes you intend to address, the resources you plan to use, and how you will assess your child's progress throughout the school year.
Don't worry: creating a Program Plan doesn't have to be complicated. Your Home Education Facilitator will work with you to develop a plan that reflects your family's educational goals while meeting Alberta Education requirements.
Inside a Program Plan
Your Home Education Program Plan typically includes:
- Your child's learning goals
- Subjects and areas of study
- Curriculum and learning resources
- Learning activities and instructional methods
- Plans for assessing and celebrating your child's progress
Every Program Plan is unique because every child learns differently. Whether you follow a structured curriculum, unit studies, interest-led learning, or a combination of approaches, your plan can be tailored to your family's educational philosophy.
You Won't Do This Alone
You don't have to complete your Program Plan on your own. Our experienced Home Education Facilitators are available to answer questions, provide guidance, and help you create a plan that supports your child's learning while meeting Alberta Education requirements.
