Technology Requirements

The right technology helps students enjoy a smooth and successful online learning experience. Here is what we recommend.

Computer, Webcam & Audio

What Every Student Needs

Each student must have access to:

  • A Windows or Mac computer or laptop
  • A reliable, high-speed internet connection
  • A webcam
  • A microphone and headphones (headphones with a built-in microphone are recommended to improve sound quality during live classes and meetings)
Please note

Tablets and smartphones may be useful for some activities but are not recommended as a student's primary learning device. Chromebooks are not recommended.

Software & Applications

Students Will Regularly Use

🌐

Google Chrome

Our recommended web browser for Canvas and live classes.

💼

Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace

Microsoft 365 will be provided by the school.

📄

PDF Reader

Such as PDF XChange Editor or PDF Element.

Students may also require additional software for specific courses. Teachers will provide instructions if anything extra is needed.

Submitting Assignments

Handwritten Work Counts Too

Many assignments can be completed online, while others may require handwritten work. Students should have access to one of the following to submit handwritten assignments:

  • A scanner
  • A smartphone or tablet with a camera
  • A digital camera

Photos should be clear and easy for teachers to read.

Keeping Your Computer Secure

A Safe, Reliable Setup

We recommend that your computer has:

  • Current operating system updates
  • Antivirus software
  • An updated web browser

Keeping your device up to date helps ensure a secure and reliable learning experience.

Need Technical Help?

Try These Steps First

  1. Restart your computer

The classic fix, and still the most effective first move.

  2. Update your browser and operating system

Out-of-date software causes most classroom hiccups.

  3. Clear your browser's cache and cookies

A clean slate often resolves login and loading issues.

  4. Use the recommended web browser

Google Chrome is the browser our platform works best with.

  5. Check your internet connection

Confirm other sites load, and restart your router if needed.
